After twenty years working for the postal service, our mother has finally made the decision to go ahead & retire.
She’s been living here up north all her life & she has gotten pretty sick of the ice, snow, & freezing temperatures.
Every year when the weather starts cooling down, our mother gets into a disappointing mood & she stays that way until the Springtime. She says that freezing temperatures make her entirely crabby, & I honestly believe that! She keeps speaking about moving south whenever she retires. I have consistently thought that she was just blowing smoke! Then this past week, I found out that she has made an offer on a beach household & she’s moving next month when she retires! I can’t actually believe it, but she’s super thrilled about it & so I am totally happy for her. She told me that she’s extremely excited about the fact that she’s easily never going to have to spend any cash on another heating bill for as long as she lives. In the part of the country where she’s moving, it’s considered a cold snap if the temperature dips below 73 degrees… My mother says that she’s totally looking forward to using an air conditioning device for once in her life instead of always making sure that her furnace is running respectively. I’m truly going to miss her, but I guess that she will care about living where the weather is consistently sizzling & sunny. I am kind of jealous of her, to be honest. She told me that she was moving on the same day that we were getting a modern oil furnace installed in our household. It just made me realize that I’m going to be stuck paying high heating bills throughout this cold season, too!
